The 2009 Outstanding Senior Artist Exhibition is currently on display in Shipman Library’s Heritage Room. The exhibit features the work of senior art major Karly Herron, who works with acrylics and mixed media on panel to create brightly-colored paintings with contemporary images and ideas.
Karly’s work explores painting techniques that create a textured backdrop for recognizable, repeated imagery. Present in the work are issues relating to humanity’s questionable role in exploring, harnessing and misusing both technology and power. It is her intent that the viewer discovers a balance of both beauty and discomfort, perhaps feeling a little bit of tension about their own existence.
For more information, contact the artist via email, kherron@adrian.edu
The work will be on display from Feb. 9-27 during regular library hours. Please note the library will be open until 1:00 AM Sunday, Feb. 22 through Thursday, Feb. 26 for midterm exam week.
